Miss India Contest for Blind
The Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped (VRCH), Bhubaneswar under Government of India, Ministry of Labour & Employment, DGE and State Branch of National Association for the Blind (NAB), Odisha jointly organised the first ever round of state level Miss India contest for blind here on Sunday.
As many as 56 visually impaired walked the ramp and 25 of them were found eligible for the event in the age group of 18-30 years. Of 25 girls, 14 have been selected in 1st round.
The second round will be held on 28 August. The shortlisted girls will be sent for the contest to be held in Mumbai along with nominated participants from other states next month , said the organizers. They will be imparted training by a choreographer and a personality development trainer. At today’s event, Balwant Singh, IAS , Director, DTE&T, Ram Kishor Sharma, Assistant Director, VRCH, Bhubaneswar, Ajay Samal,General Secretary for State Branch of National Association for the Blind, Odisha were present.
