Dr Hrushikesh Mallick Conferred with the Prestigious Sarala Puraskar 2016
Odisha’s Eminent poet Dr Hrushikesh Mallick was conferred with the prestigious Sarala Samman, an award instituted by the Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), an organisation established by the IMFA Group, at a special function here today.
Mallick received the award from Chandrasekhar Kambar, vice-president of Kendra Sahitya Academy Mallick received the award for his book ‘Jeje Dekhinathiba Bharat’. The award carries Rs 5 lakh cash reward and citation.
Renowned artist Late Dr Dinanath Pathy honoured with the Ila Panda Smaraki Chitrakala Samman posthumously. Noted singer Dr Gopal Chandra Panda felicitated with Ila Panda Smaraki Sangeet Samman.
President of Sarala Advisory Body and writer Santanu Acharya said Odia literature is getting marginalised as it is no longer being considered a necessity by the masses. “This is because the future generation of Odisha is not interested in its language and literature,” he said.
