BHUBANESWAR: State Government will begin registration process for the special recruitment drive, for engineering and professional course pass outs, by the end of this week.

The four-day drive is scheduled to begin from September 17.

This is for the first time, the State Government has taken an initiative to organise a recruitment drive on such a large-scale.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) is developing an independent platform for the registration process.

Employment and Technical Education and Training (ETET) Department had constituted a special committee comprising officials of OJEE, Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET) and BPUT, with its Vice-Chancellor as Chairman of the committee.

BPUT placement cell in-charge and committee member Saroj Pradhan said the registration fees for the recruitment drive is 100 per candidate. The committee is currently giving final touches to different modalities like the number of companies that each candidate can apply for and number of offer letters a candidate can accept.

Once the online portal for the special drive goes live, interested candidates can register by providing their basic details and resume.

ETET Department Secretary CS Kumar said the special committee has begun writing to the corporate houses, inviting them to participate in the drive. Based on the eligibility criteria provided by the companies, a registered candidate can apply to a company of his or her choice. Mostly IT companies, State-owned and other medium scale companies will be roped in for the drive, he added.

Even though the placements for 2013-14 pass outs of engineering and professional courses have concluded recently, the committee members are hopeful of roping in a large number of companies.

Stringent measures are being put in place to prevent fake companies from participating.
